Stark & Watson welcomes you to the two-day Workshop Oral Placement Therapy: Theoretical Analysis and Practical Training , which will take place on 6-7 March 2027 , in Thessaloniki!

The aim of the Workshop is to introduce participants to fundamental tactile/sensory techniques for the (re)training of muscles and the faster rehabilitation of speech disorders.

This seminar provides foundational training in the assessment and rehabilitation of the sensory and motor aspects of speech.

It incorporates the complete philosophy of Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) by  TalkTools. OPT is a form of oral-motor therapy that focuses on developing specific skills that are essential for speech and feeding

OPT focuses on the“3 Parts” auditory, visual, and tactile input**, in order to strengthen the muscular system of the jaw, lips, and tongue and enhance oral-motor control. This therapeutic approach is based on a specific hierarchy and aims to achieve:

 Increased speech intelligibility

 Improved feeding

This interactive, hands-on Workshop presents and analyzes fundamental activities targeting the diaphragm, soft palate, jaw, lips, and tongue. The techniques taught can be immediately applied in a variety of therapeutic settings, including private practices and centers, hospitals, schools, and the home, as well as with individuals of any age.

Throughout the Workshop, participants will engage in targeted hands-on exercises, as well as safe therapeutic techniques aimed at developing the mobility of the muscles of the orofacial region and improving speech intelligibility.

The language of the Workshop is Greek.

During the Workshop, the following topics will be presented:

Targeted assessment of articulator placement within the oral cavity in individuals with speech disorders

 Learning the functional use of muscles in a hierarchical sequence (**jaw – lips – tongue**)

Designing therapeutic intervention programs for the rehabilitation of speech disorders

Correct application of fundamental therapeutic techniques Case analysis,

The Workshop is intended for Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Special Education Teachers, and students of the respective fields.

Due to the laboratory and hands-on nature of the Workshop, the number of participants is limited.
